Our Story
Laurel Canyon Dreamin’ began with Cooper “Coop” Bayliss’s vision: to bring the music of Laurel Canyon to life through a show that celebrates both the songs and the stories behind them.
Inspired by the artists he grew up listening to—including The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and Jackson Browne—Coop envisioned a musical journey through an extraordinary era of songwriting, harmony and collaboration.
He brought together a band of experienced musicians and fresh talent to share that vision. Their performances weave familiar favorites with stories of the artists, friendships and creative connections that helped shape the Laurel Canyon sound.
Six months later, Laurel Canyon Dreamin’ made its debut. A year after that, the band sold out its first ticketed event in Southern California.
Today, Coop and the band invite audiences to sing along, rediscover old favorites and experience the spirit of Laurel Canyon together.
Meet the Band
Cooper Bayliss · Frontman & Lead Guitar
Cooper “Coop” Bayliss is a third-generation professional musician who began performing at just 13. Over more than three decades, he has brought his voice, guitar and keyboards to rock, blues and jazz, touring Europe with AWOL and working as an arranger, producer, and lead and background vocalist in the studio. As the leader of Laurel Canyon Dreamin’, Coop brings a lifetime of musical experience and a working musician’s perspective to the songs and stories of the Laurel Canyon era.
Hilary Seleb · Lead Vocals
Hilary brings soulful, expressive vocals to Laurel Canyon Dreamin’. She has recorded a full-length studio album and has provided backup vocals for acclaimed artists such as Michael McDonald and James Ingram. Her shared love of the Canyon’s music helped spark the band’s beginnings and continues to shape its sound. As lead vocalist, she brings character to the songs and an ear for the close harmonies at the heart of the show.
Frank Cotinola · Drums
Frank’s career spans live performance, recording sessions and contributions to numerous IMAX soundtracks. His Southern California stage and studio experience includes work with the Righteous Brothers and José Feliciano. In Laurel Canyon Dreamin’, his seasoned, song-focused drumming provides a steady foundation, supporting the vocals, guitars and rich harmonies that bring this music to life.
Gordon Rustvold · Bass
A bassist, educator, producer and recording engineer, Gordon brings experience both onstage and behind the scenes. At his Broken Prop Studio in Fountain Valley, he recorded The Mutual Admiration Society; his engineering credits also include Arnold McCuller’s The Music of Johnny Mathis. His studio-trained ear and versatile musicianship add depth to Laurel Canyon Dreamin’s sound.
Jackson Jarrett · Lead Guitar & Vocals
Jackson began making music in high school in Mission Viejo as a founding guitarist of The Grinns, the Orange County band that later signed with Postmark Records. His background in Beatles-influenced indie rock and collaborative songwriting brings a fresh perspective to Laurel Canyon Dreamin’. Through his guitar work and harmonies, he joins his bandmates in carrying these timeless songs to a new generation.
Mario Rossi · Piano, Organ & Vocals
Mario Rossi is a pianist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer whose career spans decades of touring, recording, and work on more than 100 albums. His compositions have been featured in numerous television shows and films, and his experience includes collaborations with David Foster and his own contemporary jazz releases. Mario brings that versatility to the keys and vocals of Laurel Canyon Dreamin’.
